TIGNES - FRANCE
FIRST TRACKS
Tignes, France - 14 to 21 December £499 - FULLY BOOKED
Get your season off to a flying start with a pre-Christmas blast. For our early season fix of the white stuff this year, we're heading to Tignes - one of the world's best bets for good early-season snow.
The resort's Grande Motte glacier area is open even in the summer and the winter opening is usually in September. The link to Val d’Isère’s ski area normally opens in November and the famous Première Neige World Cup races are held in Val in mid-December. By the time we arrive there should be huge amounts of skiing and snowboarding available.
We’ve negotiated an unbeatable deal with highly rated, family-run chalet company Ski Olympic to take over the whole of their smart Chalet Rosset, using their own charter flights from Gatwick and Manchester (£35 supplement).
All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and seven-nights' accommodation, six-nights' chalet-board (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner including wine) with flights and transfers costs just £499. An amazing bargain to visit one of the world’s premier resorts and stay in comfortable surroundings with good food and company (the high season brochure price for this chalet reaches £1,285 for a week).
You’ll be able to ski with DMS&S staff and Ski Olympic hosts. And we are working on providing excellent free add-ons such as a free half day lesson to brush up your technique for the season from British-run New Generation ski school, cut price off-piste guiding from Top Ski, free drinks and canapés at a welcome party, plus an end-of-week prizegiving party. And lots more.
Departure date 14 December 2011.
There are only 40 places available – so early booking is advised. To make a booking, or find out more, please give Paul at Ski Olympic a call on 01302 328820 or e-mail paul@skiolympic.co.uk
UTAH - USA
PERFECT POWDER
Utah, USA - 1 to 11 February £1598
Join us for ‘The Greatest Snow on Earth’, as they say on the car number plates in Utah. Utah gets the lightest, driest powder in the universe – and lots of it (an average of over 12m in Snowbird). We have run two trips there before and both times it hardly stopped snowing - we’re expecting the same again!
We plan to visit each of Utah’s seven top resorts – Park City, Deer Valley, The Canyons, Snowbird, Alta, Solitude and Brighton. Each one has an entirely different character and type of terrain but all share Utah’s legendary powder snow. We’ll be staying in Park City, with its fabulous Main Street filled with bars and restaurants and have our own bus to take us to and from the four resorts not served by the free local buses.
We’ve negotiated a great deal with the Park City Peaks hotel; a nine-night stay with a full buffet breakfast daily will be from just £1598, including Delta Airlines flights from Heathrow to Salt Lake City (only 45 minutes from the hotel) via Atlanta. (Note that snowboarding is not allowed in Alta and Deer Valley). There will also be special reduced-price lift tickets and ski rental.
All this plus ski guiding by locals and DMS&S and Ski Independence staff, drinks parties and end of week prize-giving. Britain’s best-ever Olympic downhiller (and DMS&S Equipment Editor) Martin Bell will also be there to ski with you.
Departure date 1 February 2012

VAL D'ISERE - FRANCE
END OF SEASON BLAST
Val d'Isère, France - 15 to 22 April from £469
Val d’Isère is one of the highest, most snowsure resorts in Europe, with one of the longest seasons. We’ll be there for our now traditional end of season bash. April skiing and boarding is great – as anyone who has been on one of our April trips will know. There’s still a chance of fresh, new powder and there is sure to be great cruising on the 300km of well-groomed pistes that Val shares with Tignes as well as some wonderful spring snow off piste. All amid warm spring sunshine we hope.
We’ve negotiated a great deal with tour operator Le Ski and booked all nine of their Val d’Isère chalets for the week. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and eight of the chalets have access to one of two large outdoor hot tubs – an unusual feature in European resorts. Seven-nights' accommodation and six-nights' chalet-board (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner including wine) with flights and transfers will cost from just £469 to £629 depending on the chalet you choose. An amazing bargain to visit one of the world’s premier resorts and stay in very comfortable surroundings with good food and company (Le Ski’s high season brochure prices here reach £1,559 for a week).
We’re working on lots of add-on extras such as a free half-day lesson with coaches from British-run New Generation ski school, a free ski test of the latest equipment arranged by Snowberry and a cut-price morning exploring the spring snow with guides from the specialist off-piste ski school Top Ski. There’ll also be a free picnic or BBQ, guiding by magazine staff and Le Ski guides, drinks parties and an end of week prize-giving.
Note: this trip fills up very quickly and every year we have many disappointed people who can’t get on it. So to ensure your place please book as soon as possible.
Departure date 15 April 2012
